On May 7, 2025, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, was received by the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Iraq.

During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the high level of development of friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, and views were exchanged on the current state and development prospects of bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his confidence that high-level visits and intensive political dialogue between our countries will make a significant contribution to the positive progress of cooperation in political, economic, trade, energy, investments, transport, education, culture, tourism and other areas.

The parties exchanged views on increasing trade turnover, promoting mutual investments, strengthening contacts between business circles and developing tourism relations, emphasizing that these areas will play an important role in the future development of relations.

It was expressed satisfaction with the existing joint activities within the framework of international organizations, especially the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and it was stated that mutual support would be continued.

The other party was provided with detailed information on the new realities that have emerged in the region during the post-conflict period, the reconstruction and construction work carried out in the liberated territories, the fight against the mine threat and the regional peace agenda.

President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid recalled with satisfaction his meetings with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Baku, as well as the Davos Economic Forum, spoke about the importance of such high-level contacts, and conveyed his greetings to the head of state.

At the end of the meeting, the importance of further strengthening efforts towards the continuous development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq based on mutual respect and common values ​​was noted.

The meeting also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
