President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Republic of Iraq Mr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid at the UN Headquarters in New York
On September 23, 2025, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev met with the President of the Republic of Iraq Mr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The President of Iraq conveyed his congratulations to the Head of State on the advancement of the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan, in particular on the initialing of the agreement on the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and said that Azerbaijan will continue its efforts to advance the peace agenda. The Head of State emphasized the special role of US President Donald Trump in achieving results in Washington.
During the conversation, the visits of the Iraqi President to Azerbaijan and his meetings with President Ilham Aliyev were recalled with satisfaction.
The meeting touched upon the role of the Intergovernmental Commission in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, discussed cooperation issues in energy, tourism and other fields. They also exchanged views on cooperation issues between our countries within international organizations, including the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and other institutions.
