Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Iraq Eldar Salimov met with the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Haibet Alhalbousi
On February 2, 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Iraq Eldar Salimov met with the Chairman of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq Haibet Alhalbousi.
Haibet Alhalbousi greeted the ambassador, congratulated him and wished him success in his future activities. The speaker noted that relations with friendly Azerbaijan have been developing steadily in recent years and that the official visits have opened a new page in the history of bilateral relations. The Chairman of the Council of Representatives noted that the development of bilateral relations and the expansion of cooperation in various fields between Azerbaijan and Iraq are gratifying, and that they are interested in continuing mutually beneficial interparliamentary cooperation with Azerbaijan and establishing exchange of experience.
Ambassador E. Salimov expressed his gratitude to his interlocutor and congratulated him on his election as the Chairman of the Council of Representatives of Iraq, and on this occasion presented a copy of the congratulatory letter addressed to Haibet Alhalbousi by the Chairman of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova. The Ambassador stressed the importance of further developing the historically established relations between the two countries in various fields.
During the meeting, bilateral and regional cooperation issues on the agenda between the two countries were discussed.
